When you transition through different levels, you keep the status you are currently under.
The following items/status should continue to occur between levels:
Poisoning (whether or not you are hurt or in the process of poisoning)
Enviornment Suit
Targeter
Shadow Armor (partial invisibility)
Vavoom apparently does not keep those statuses active when switching between levels.
